“You might think that I’m doing so much for you, but the truth is you do much more for me.”
Montreal is still getting over the shock of losing P.K. Subban to the Nashville Predators. But the former Canadiens defenceman hasn't forgotten about his adopted hometown, and especially not his pals at the Montreal Children's Hospital.
Last year, Subban donated $10 million to the hospital, which named an atrium after the hockey player. He visited frequently and got to know many of the kids recovering there.
That's why staff and patients at the hospital were so devastated by the trade.
“Many kids were crying, to be frank and honest with you,” Marie-Josée Gariépy, president of the hospital foundation, told the Montreal Gazette.
