A camera crew from Radio-Canada arrived and filmed the scene as it unfolded. Kattoua told Radio-Canada he wanted to see what taxi inspectors would do, and help them in their efforts to keep UberX off the streets.

UberX driver Alex Wu arrived, and Kattoua prevented him from driving off. Kattoua alerted the bureau so they could fine the driver and get police to impound the vehicle, in accordance with a local bylaw.

This is the latest in an ongoing battle between the UberX service and the Montreal taxi bureau and city.

The mayor and the provincial government have said UberX, which enables those without a taxi license to become a driver, is illegal. Local police have already seized well over 40 UberX vehicles and given fines.
